AJ was born in Istanbul Turkey. Her mother, Sevcan, is a dentist, her father, Melih, is an ophthalmologist. She finished Mujdat Gezen Arts School's Actor Studio Program and then shortly after she moved to New York to complete The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute New York's Conservatory Program.
