Jim Hamilton is an acknowledged expert on long-fall survival. Since 2001, his web site, The Free Fall Research Page, has tracked the many stories and myths regarding these incidents. He has been described as a "guy who's obsessed with people who've fallen from great heights" (by Kelly Ryan and Cameron Phillips of the CBC program Freestyle). Documentary filmmaker Steven Ives, in his book, Reporting America at War called Hamilton "a passionate amateur historian."
