Description
Steve Cogan and Paul Rudd are gay couples turning their lives abroad when a 10-year-old boy appears at the door of his house claiming to be Erasmus's grandson. It seems that Paul and Erasmus have not been willing to give up their extravagant ways of being parents, but perhaps this little boy has a thing or two to teach them about the value of the family.

Flaws and all, this is a film with a feeling for human complexities, a degree of visual intelligence and its heart in the right place. Considering the current dismal state of big-screen American comedy, that feels like a gift.

"Ideal Home" is genuinely funny, and the poignant and pithy script is aided by the chemistry between its stars, who are equally adept with comedic punch lines as they are with dramatic gut punches.
