Just Wright
Leslie Wright is a straight-shooting physical therapist who gets the gig of a lifetime working with NBA All-Star Scott McKnight. All is going well until Leslie finds herself falling for Scott, forcing her to choose between the gig and the tug-of-war inside her heart. Oblivious to her romantic overtures, McKnight is instead drawn to the affections of Leslie's childhood friend Morgan, who has her sights set on being an NBA trophy wife. Is Leslie destined to play the role of 'best friend' forever or will Scott finally see that what he always wanted is right in front of him?

You can almost see the studio accountants counting the demographic hot spots Just Wright should connect with as the movie reels by.

Although it's replete with solid supporting players and even stronger goodwill, Just Wright buckles under the burden of its pure intentions. Too many auxiliary, moralizing plot points and characters are picked up, only to be suddenly dropped.

All of this predictability and retreading of the same old formula just makes for one long, stretched-out film that leaves the audience waiting for the inevitable to happen.

Technically speaking, this is a romantic sports comedy. We don't get many films in which these elements work well as a team.

The audience, much like Latifah, is surprised and utterly won over by Common's disarming, nice guy affability beneath the intimidating aura.

Just Wright is an easy enough way to pass an afternoon, and it is refreshing to see a plus-sized woman on screen that isn't, for one second, fretting about her weight.

You've seen it before -- it lifts from Pretty Woman and The Truth About Cats & Dogs, to name a couple -- but you won't hate seeing it again.

Intersperses the suds with zippy basketball sequences that feature NBA pros, and a hip-hop soundtrack that steers the film to a mild, steady beat.

Just Wright's heart is in the right place. It just doesn't know what to do with it.
