Description
Dramatic events continue in a thrilling film. Where the prince and boy of Hazara Hassan, a loyal friend and son of their servant in Hazara Ali, grew up together in Amir's father's home, playing and playing in the quiet streets of Kabul. Amir feels that his father, the wise and the righteous, blames him for the death of his mother in childbirth, and that his father loves him. The Kite Runner is earnest and sentimental and formulaic and obvious. Watching it, I could understand the fuss over Khaled Hosseini's bestselling novel, but the film didn't make me want to read it.

The film's belief in the power of redemption and its subtle assertion of the need for moral courage in personal (or political) conflict, is never allowed to get in the way of its boldly told, intelligent, informed and affecting story.
