While The Watch boasts impressively designed sets, costumes and characters that create a strong sense of place -- even if that place isn't necessarily Pratchett's Discworld -- it has little going for it other than its style.

The Watch is wacky. Exhaustingly so, really, full of rapid-fire cuts, incongruous music choices, and a sense of humor that should be familiar to anyone who's seen an animated movie in the past 10 years.

Here's the sad truth: Neither of the two disparate shows that The Watch seems to be trying to be is actually very good.
