In the fourth season, we return from Jadal to complete the events of that series where a woman who avenges deliberately and writes to kill her daughter asks Alan to provide her with a temporary madness. Meanwhile, Katie and Jerry are trying to obtain a criminal conviction that is doubtful to be passed to the client. On the other hand, Denny gets hot water when a lawyer shoots her sexual advances because she is too fat. Meanwhile, Jerry is defending a woman in a case involving 'sexual assault'

Less about lawyers in love than Ally McBeal and less earnest than The Practice, Boston Legal is kooky while tackling hot-button issues. The balance is embodied, brilliantly, in the two protagonists.

Perhaps the funniest scene in the whole fourth season occurs in "Tabloid Nation" when Crane thinks he has a chance at romance with Candice Bergen's Shirley Schmidt.
