The life of an ambitious and successful novelist, Rick Castle, whose last novel achieves a great success, has been changed, after imitating the killers of his novel in reality, the thing that leads the mayor to ask him to join the investigators, in order to find out the suspect, but he falls in love with Deck, the chef of detectives who investigate on the case.

The writers have emotionally retconned the romance at the heart of the show in order to make us wait who knows how long for another chance to see these two married off, and they do it in a way that makes literally no sense.
