How I Met Your Mother is an American sitcom follows Ted Mosby and his group of friends in Manhattan. As a framing device, Ted, in the year 2030, recounts to his son and daughter the events that led him to meeting their mother. Ted musters up the courage to talk to a girl at the bar, but then discovers she';;s there with one of his exes. Meanwhile, Lily is mad at Marshall because he told his dad they';;re trying to have a baby, and Robin lets herself go.

There were both good story arcs and individual episodes this season, and on the whole I do think it was a notable improvement from season 5.

The juxtaposition of those two images-the successful conception of a new life, and the destruction of an old building-is apt for a finale that embraces a lot of the oddness of this season and tries to find productive ways to build on the paradoxes.

"Big Days" felt like a fantastic step forward, while effortlessly reminding us of all the great things How I Met Your Mother has to offer.
