The slightly dour tone is a nice break from season one's inspirational cheerleading and manic rushing-about.

Sorkin has blessedly toned down and cooled the quip-filled "His Girl Friday" banter enough to inject the show with a healthy dose of realism.

The Newsroom is a series that will always contain both very good and not so good Sorkinisms. You'll just have to adjust your expectations and live with it - and no doubt talk about it endlessly.

I'd like to hope that we won't get as much romance sub-plot as last year, but I fear that won't be the case. Instead I'll just have to hope that the good stuff outweighs the bad.
